Google. What Will You Think of Next?

Oh boy, a softball-less related post! What could be the occasion?

Well Google has released a messenger service called 'Google Talk'. Sure, you could still use AIM, but in the words of Peter Griffin: "C'mon.'

Seriously people, this is a messenger service like MSN. Get a Gmail email address and download Google Talk. It's that simple. Now log in to the service, and what do you see?

Well you see it's still in Beta, but that's alright. The first thing I noticed is the fact there are no ads on the service. It is very straight forward. Just like the search page of Google, there is nothing unwanted here.

And the part I like the most is the lack of computer resources it uses. Aim right now is using 10,860 K of memory on my computer. GoogleTalk is using a miniscule 804 K of memory. And that's the power used when both are minimized. When on the screen AIM uses the same amount of memory while GoogleTalk uses 2,256 K.

And I like that.

So, I suggest you give GoogleTalk a try. What can it hurt.

And best of all, that means I'll have someone to talk to.
